Plastic Garden Chair

This plastic chair 3D asset is based on the kind of lightweight moulded seating found almost everywhere: in gardens, on balconies, outside cafés, beside sheds and around improvised outdoor tables. It is not a design-piece chair or a decorative statement object. Its value comes from being familiar, ordinary and immediately believable in a scene.

That makes it useful in a different way from more polished furniture assets. It helps spaces feel inhabited. A chair like this suggests daily use, temporary seating, outdoor routines and the sort of practical environment where objects are chosen for convenience rather than style. In game scenes, props like this often do more world-building than visually louder assets because they make the setting feel grounded.

The slightly worn plastic surface keeps it from feeling too clean or freshly placed. It reads as something that has been left outside, moved around and used over time. That works well for back gardens, courtyards, terraces, workshops, older holiday properties and informal public spaces. It can sit quietly in the background, but it also holds up in closer shots when the environment needs more texture and small signs of everyday life.

Game Prop Look – Visual Character

The red finish gives this chair game prop enough colour presence to register in a scene, but the overall object still feels utilitarian rather than decorative. It can support slightly retro environments, everyday modern settings or locations with a practical, lived-in look. The shape is recognisable at a glance, which helps the asset stay readable without needing exaggerated detail. However it’s simply because it matches and livens up the environment. Initially simple background props like this one were prepared as fillers, background props to create specific mood – we aimed for 70s to 90s look, possibly Eastern Blok and post-soviet that would match the game level.

What the model is suited to

This chair 3D model fits naturally into domestic exteriors, modest residential settings and outdoor seating areas that need ordinary furniture rather than curated interiors. It is also a strong fit for narrative environments, social spaces, survival scenes and exploration-based levels where believable props help establish tone without drawing focus.

Because this is such a common object, it is especially useful when repetition is needed. Several copies can be placed around a scene without looking out of place, which makes it practical for larger environment builds.

LODs and workflow

The hierarchy shown in the source file includes parented LOD meshes arranged with CryEngine 5 in mind. That setup is useful for real-time scenes where the chair may appear many times or at varying distances. It can also be adapted to other engines with minor changes, so while the asset is CryEngine-oriented in structure, it remains broadly usable across engine pipelines.

Additional Notes

As in most of the cases on our site, the model was created and textured in Blender, whereas preview renders were produced using EEVEE shader and standard lighting.
