The shield itself, was modelled after an example of a Persian Shield (known as the sipar). Similar design was used all over the eastern world in different periods. From the 14th to the 17th century it was commonly used by the Arab-dominated middle-east, from Turkey to Persia. However it was still in use up to the 19th century in Iran and India.
The model itself, is ideal for the Cryengine as it was made in the Specular-Glossiness workflow, however this doesn’t mean it can’t be used (via conversion of textures) in other popular game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
This Persian shield model has 11,000 tris, with 4 seperate levels of detail (LODs) which lowers it down to 1,200 tris and a proxy collision hitbox, which makes it a great asset for Middle-East themed games.
